Instructional material, Beverages, Continental Breakfast and Lunch provided - Bring a ball to drill or plug, an old ball with a track, your shoes and a thirst for knowledge!

Day 1: Basic Fitting/drilling and Pro Shop Procedures

  1. Overview of the day' activities including;

    a: Proper plug preparation, color matching, mixing, curing, cutting, tips for troublesome plugs and shortcuts to save time and money.

    b:  Ball resurfacing with tips to save time and expense.

    c: How to properly fit and drill the relaxed fit with emphasis on applying the correct span, pitches and hole size for each individual. Identifying and correcting fit problems and fitting unusual hands.


    d: Basic label layouts and label shifts for static weights and their lack of effect on a ball.

    e: How to use a Balance Scale to determine a ball's legality and finding the true center of gravity on a plugged ball or a new ball not clearly marked.

    f: Shop suggestions and tips for stock, display, merchandising, advertising and promoting your shop. Tips for increasing your income in the shop.

    g: Review of the day's curriculum and hands on time.

Day 2: Advanced shop and Layout techniques

  1. Overview of the day's activities including

    a: Identifying bowler forces-What does the bowler bring to the equation?

    b: Identifying different tracks and the information this provides as to the bowler's release. The assets and liabilities of different tracks.

    c: Different means to locate and mark the track. Using different means to locate, mark and measure the Positive Axis Point (PAP) measurements.

    d: Applying the PAP measurements to a new ball.

    e
    : Layouts involving different pin distance layouts and the effect of pin distance on roll, flare and ball reaction.

    f: Locating the "Pin Safe Zone" to ensure the ball does not roll over the grip holes.

    g: Placement and drilling of a balance hole and the effects of the balance hole on ball reaction and flare.

    h: Review of the day's curriculum and hands on time.
